Public Procurement is an essential element to the ongoing operational management of our primary, second and third level institutions and is a crucial pillar to the successful expansion of our building infrastructure.

Inclusive school designs are developed carefully, in close consultation with stakeholders. Through engagement with teachers, specialists, parents and the pupils themselves – we learn from their experience and expertise. It is our goal to share knowledge from our ongoing work in a range of locations and settings, to help more schools benefit from thoughtful school design that will reduce barriers and reflect the diverse needs of all school users. We will discuss the guiding inclusive design principles we can adopt and the value it can bring to the schools that shape them.

The presentation will also highlight some of ATKINS ongoing collaborations with the Department of Education in delivering creative approaches to the demands of progressive learning briefs.

This session will provide a sharing of experiences and challenges in respect of school accommodation across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England.  Challenges including capacity pressures, evolving accommodation requirements, and sustainability will be outlined and the emerging responses to these challenges will be discussed.  This session presents an opportunity for collective learning and the prompting of strategic thinking across the sector.
