Sofa Session - Space Utilisation Across the Tertiary Education Estate: Learning and Next Steps

To meet evolving teaching, learning, research and student needs, the tertiary education sector must make increasingly effective use of its existing estate. This sofa session will explore the Higher Education experience of using space utilisation data to support strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, inform capital investment, and help institutions optimise the use of their existing estate. Building on this experience, the session will also look ahead to the Department’s pilot space utilisation survey in the FET sector, to be undertaken by SOLAS, which will draw on the HE experience while supporting the development of a sector-wide approach tailored to the diverse nature of FET provision.
