Coláiste Chiaráin, Athlone
A graduate of the University of Limerick and Maynooth University, Brendan taught Construction Studies and Design and Communication Graphics for 15 years before his secondment to the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST). Subsequently, he was appointed Principal of Coláiste Chiaráin in 2017
The school opened its doors in September 2017 as an amalgamation of St Joseph’s College and St Aloysius College with Brendan as its first Principal. A new school building was planned as part of the amalgamation process to cater for 1,000 students. As Principal, Brendan was responsible for the school’s input into the design and build of the new school, liaising with the department of education and project manager and managing the tendering process for furniture and equipment. The new school building was handed over to the board of management of Coláiste Chiaráin in August 2020.
Brendan is passionate about Education for all and his role in leading teaching and learning in Coláiste Chiaráin.
