Biography
A public procurement practitioner in higher education for over 15 years, Fiona Thomson B.A. is a recognised leader on procurement strategy and policy. Fiona graduated with a degree in hotel management and worked initially in the hospitality sector before joining UCC in 2007. She has furthered her career in Public Procurement with an advanced diploma in Procurement Law from the Kings Inn. As UCC Procurement Officer, Fiona is responsible for all procurement associated with an annual recurring university non-pay budget of €100 million. Fiona has attained substantial expertise across all categories of spend in goods and services to support the educational and research strategic ambition of the University. In more recent years, Fiona has been recognised nationally and internationally for her leadership in sustainable procurement and has been invited to share her experiences with other practitioners by agencies such as OGP and SEAI and has also presented European Universities Association.
