Through his current role Alan provides strategic leadership across programmes, staff, and industry engagement, ensuring alignment with regional and national skills needs in the built environment sector.

A Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 27 years’ professional experience, Alan has worked with leading international consultancies including AECOM and Turner & Townsend, as well as in a freelance capacity with many of Ireland’s leading practices.

Alan has over 20 years’ experience in higher education, lecturing in construction cost management, project management, procurement, and construction law. He has played a key role in securing and maintaining accreditation with professional bodies such as the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) and Engineers Ireland.

Alan is currently leading the development of a new MSc in Modern Methods of Construction, due to commence in late 2026. The programme focuses on management and leadership in offsite construction, digitalisation, sustainability, and industrialised building.
