Alan Frize works on developing national policy for higher education for learners in the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. Since joining the Department in 2024, he has worked closely with Creative Ireland on the Creative Youth Plan, advancing its ambition to explore and develop the concept of the Creative Campus. In 2025, he spearheaded the establishment of a sectoral working group and serves as the group's secretary. 

His broader responsibilities include improving information for learners, supporting institutional alignment with the creative industries, and collaborating with the Higher Education Authority on its work regarding the enhancement teaching and learning and student success.
