Chris Croly is Head of Building Services Engineering at BDP Dublin and one of Ireland's leading experts in sustainable building design, decarbonisation and building performance. With almost 30 years' experience, he has delivered some of the country's most significant low-energy and net zero carbon projects across the education, commercial and cultural sectors.

A registered BREEAM Assessor and BREEAM Accredited Professional, Chris has led the environmental and energy design and strategy for numerous award-winning buildings, including ESB's landmark record breaking Net Zero Energy headquarters, SETU Carlow Campus Corporate Services Building, the National Gallery of Ireland, Graham Headquarters, University College Cork's Environmental Research Institute and the Waterford Institute of Technology Tourism & Leisure Building, for which he was awarded the CIBSE award for innovation and research. His work has received more than 50 sustainability awards, and he was named designer of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards.

Chris is widely recognised for his expertise in operational energy performance, building decarbonisation and Net Zero Carbon design. He has authored more than 40 published articles on sustainable design, contributed to national energy research initiatives, and is regularly invited to speak by government departments, professional institutions and industry organisations on the future of low-carbon buildings.

The results of monitoring provide invaluable feedback for future building design and enhancement. He has recently been involved in a number of 100% net zero projects that recover both operational and embodied energy within their lifetimes. Some of his current work focuses on helping universities optimise existing estates, reduce carbon emissions and use building performance data to inform long-term investment and estate strategies.
