Gearóid McHugh’s Biography: Gearóid McHugh has worked in the Capital Unit of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) since 2023, where he leads on capital planning. He has more than 20 years of experience in educational infrastructure and capital project delivery. Prior to joining DFHERIS, he managed a range of school capital programmes in the Department of Education and Youth, including Major Devolved Programmes, the Additional Schools Accommodation (ASA) Scheme, the Modular Accommodation Framework, ADAPT, and the Traditional School Building Programme. Gearóid holds an MSc in Leadership and Innovation in the Public Sector from Atlantic Technological University and Ulster University, and an MA from Trinity College Dublin.
