Michael Curran is a Chartered Building Services Engineer with over 25 years of experience across private and public sector infrastructure, capital delivery, sustainability and strategic planning. He previously served for 10 years as Head of Building Services, Energy and Utilities at the University of Galway, where he led the decarbonisation of the campus. Under his leadership, his team was awarded two SEAI awards: Energy in Buildings and Energy Team of the Year. In response to the welcome increase in capital funding across the Further Education and Training sector, and the associated growth in the portfolio of capital projects, Michael has been appointed on an acting basis for six months as Director – Capital Projects Funding, Delivery and Governance at SOLAS. In this role, he is strengthening oversight of the expanding capital programme and supporting the timely delivery of projects across the FET sector, while continuing to align policy and practice with the Climate Action Plan and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Michael is also a past Chairman of the CIBSE Ireland group and regularly presents on their behalf at conferences and events. His dedication to Building Services in Ireland was recognised with the CIBSE Bronze Medal in 2023.
