Education Buildings Ireland 2026: update on Thursday 12 November

We’re aware of the public sector strike planned for Thursday 12 November, which falls on Day 2 of Education Buildings Ireland 2026. This is outside the control of everyone involved. We want to be open with you about how we’re planning for it, and how we’ll work through it together.

We’re in close contact with our partners, including representatives from the Government of Ireland, and have prepared a Contingency Plan. Our aim is to make sure the event continues to deliver real value for everyone taking part.

Wednesday 11 November

If the Contingency Plan is activated, Day 1 will be extended to run from 8am to 6pm, with a fuller conference programme across the day. All content originally planned for Day 1 will go ahead as scheduled, including the gala dinner in the evening. We’re working closely with our partners to encourage as many attendees as possible to join us on Wednesday 11 November.

Thursday 12 November

We understand some attendees and speakers may not be able to join us on Day 2, so the day is likely to look different. We’re in a position to run the event on Day 2. Before agreeing how the day should look, we’ll speak with each of our exhibitors and sponsors, so the decision reflects what works best for them.

What this means for you

  • Exhibitors and sponsors: We’ll contact you personally to talk through the options and agree the most sensible approach together.
  • Speakers: Our content team will be in touch with any updates to your session.
  • Attendees: Where possible, please plan to join us on Wednesday 11 November, and keep an eye on your inbox for updates.

Next steps

We expect to confirm whether the Contingency Plan will be activated by Monday 9 November at the latest, and sooner if possible. We’ll let you know as soon as a decision is made, so you have as much time as possible to prepare.

Thank you for your patience and partnership. By working together, we’re confident Education Buildings Ireland 2026 will still be a valuable and successful event for everyone.
